Martha McCauley, born 25 Jun 1877, was the daughter of Robert McCauley, a farmer from Creighan, and Catherine Pollock. She appears to be the fifth of at least 7 children. The fourth child was also called Martha. She was born on 30 Nov 1875 and died before the end of that year. Catherine Pollock’s father, George Pollock, was also a farmer from Castlewarren. There have been a number of George Pollocks living in Castlewarren at various times and so far I have not been able to achieve clarity. Two were father and son. One was known as 'Big George'. Was this George Pollock related to the male line of Pollocks we are following in this narrative? I don’t know, but it seems unlikely that he wasn’t. In the 1901 Census the unmarried John Pollock was living with his parents in Castlewarren. In 1911 he was still living with his parents and his new wife. John and Martha had three children. In both the 1901 and 1911 Censuses and his marriage record John Pollock is described as a farmer. In 1936 his son George Pollock took on a role in the local agricultural industry. He would have been 25 at the time as was living in Castlewarren. Another George Pollock from Castlewarren!
