John Pollock (1876 - 1958) John Pollock was born in Dungiven Rd, Waterside on 7 Feb 1876, the eldest of at least six children. Catherine Bryson who was the informant and 'present at birth' was also the informant on the majority of births registered on the same page of the birth records so it seems likely she was the local midwife. As she had to make her mark rather than sign the document it suggest she had little or no formal training in midwifery. John Pollock married Martha McCauley, also recorded as MaCauley or MacAuley, on 16 Feb 1911 in Donemana Presbyterian Church. Donemana (named after the townland of Dunnamanagh, from Irish DĂșn na Manach, meaning 'stronghold of the monks') is a small village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is 7 miles north-east of Strabane, on the banks of the Burn Dennett and at the foothills of the Sperrins. Other anglicised spellings of its name include Dunnamanagh and Donnamanagh.
