She was born on 28 Feb 1889 in 15 Morton Place, Kilmarnock and registered as Annie Torrance Houston. As Elizabeth Houston married Archibald Torrance on 31 Jan 1890 it is reasonable to assume that he was the father. In 1890 William Houston’s 17 year old daughter Jessie was assaulted by a 35 year old neighbour. In 1891 they lived respectively at 112 and 123 Galston Road.
