His parentage is still under investigation but it may be that he was born or baptised in Tattershall which is just 5 miles away in which case his parents were John Green and Martha Green (née Watson). William Green married Elizabeth Wootton on 29 Oct 1837 in Cambridge. Both bride and groom gave their place of residence as Cambridge. William’s birthplace, Walcott in Lincolnshire, is approximately 85 miles north of Cambridge.
