1939 Register
After an early career as a railway porter William Edward Green had obviously moved into manufacturing, though the connection with the railways
persisted. By 1939 he was a 'railway coach vestibule maker'*. Two of his children (records officially closed) were still living with their parents.
*
A railway coach vestibule is the end of the coach which has doorways on either side to allow passenger entry and egress at stations, a door into the body of
the car, and, at the car end, a doorway to allow access to the next car through a flexible gangway connection.
