Yorkshire, England The previous entry in the 1841 Census is Boulby Bank which is where John and his wife Jane were living ten years later. 1851 Census John Frankland Head Married 76 Labourer Newton, Yorkshire, England Jane Frankland Wife Married 78 - Lealholm, Yorkshire, England This view of Boulby Bank illustrates the steepness of the cliffs at Whitby where houses have had to be built on very steep slopes and often right up against the cliffs. Some of the houses appear to be tenements with wooden staircases and galleries giving access to the upper floor accommodation. These houses were demolished in 1958.
