William Ledger Borer (1818 - 1891)
Though the baptism records of George and Emma’s children record the surname
as 'Boorer', from the 1841 Census onwards it is recorded as 'Borer'.
There were a significant number of Borer family members in the London area in
the mid-19th century.
Probably because of miss-spelling of names I have not, so far, located William in
the 1841 or 1851 censuses. In the 1871 Census William appears as William Borer
but in 1861 he was William Bower.
William Ledger Borer married Elizabeth Ann(e) Horn(e) in September 1856 in
the parish church of St Mary, Lambeth.
William was of full age (21 years or more) and Elizabeth was recorded as a minor
(less than 21). In fact, he was 38 years old and she was 17-18.
William signed the marriage record while Elizabeth made her mark.
William was a cabinet maker (son of George, a carpenter) and Elizabeth was the daughter of Christopher Thomas Horn who was a glass cutter.
