William Rowland
A search for the baptism of Thomas Rowland came up with just one possibility in the Liverpool area in the expected time scale. If this is correct Thomas’
father was William Rowland, a sailor. Where the residence is usually given in the record it states 'Novoscosho' which could be the name of a boat or be
Nova Scotia, Canada.
There is a William Rowland living in Nova Scotia in the 1791 and 1792 Poll Tax Records. He was a farmer. This is all very tenuous and completely
unproven.
Thomas Rowland
Thomas Roland, a slater, married Elizabeth Kelshaw on 24 Sep 1776 in St Anne, Cazneau St, Liverpool. Though the surname looks like Kelshan it is
transcribed from other registers as Kelshaw which seems more likely.
With no Census records at this time it is hard to be sure that this is the father of Henry Rowland but there is some evidence to that effect.
On Henry Roland’s marriage record he states his father is Thomas Rowland, slater and plasterer.
