John Harlington (1896 - 1933)
John Harlington was the son of James and Sarah Ann Harlington, brother of Ida and May, the nephew of Alma Harlington and the cousin of Charles
Kellett Harlington. Charles and John were born within a year of one another in Goole.
John Harlington married Gladys Crabtree in the second quarter of
1920 in Goole. They had a daughter Jean Moore Harlington, born 21
Aug 1929.
John Harlington was a seaman and the Chief Engineer on the
SS Broomfleet on its ill-fated voyage in December 1933.
The 'Broomfleet' was named after the village on the north bank
of the Humber estuary past which it would regularly have
sailed.
