1841 Census William Dronfield appears to have been in Sheffield at the time of the 1841 Census but this is not confirmed. He would marry Mary Turton on 26 Apr 1842 and in the 1841 Census she was living with her parents Job (a farmer) and Mary Turton and two siblings Thomas and Henry in Chesterfield Road, Staveley. Mary’s mother died in 1849. William Dronfield and Mary Turton married in St Thomas’s Church in Brampton. Her father was given as John Turton, a book-keeper. William was described as a bachelor and a cordwainer, residing in Brampton. The witnesses were John Dronfield and Elizabeth Turton. There seems to be some inconsistencies here which I will look into. Brampton is about 5 miles from Staveley. The lives of William and Mary Dronfield are outlined in the following censuses. 1851 Census By 1851 there were four children listed including one named Job, presumably after Mary’s father.
