In addition to their first child Emmley who died in 1854, they had a second child Hannah Winterbotton Bagshaw in 1854. She died, aged 5/6, in 1860
so doesn’t appear in any census.
The first edition of the Ordnance Survey 1-inch to 1 mile was published in the early 1860s. The dotted line which follows the river Rother, thence down
southwards to Westwood, might be traced. This is the parish boundary – but it appears missing at its southern most Calow extent. The boundary can be picked
up again in the Old Fields (farm) area. Brimington Common had fairly recently been enclosed – so few buildings are shown on it. The extent of enclosed area can
be discerned by following the large triangular-like piece of land which runs south from the so-called ‘Manor House’. The railway line to the west and north (top)
of this extract is the North Midland Railway, opened in 1840
