William Mathieson and Marion Irvine appear to have had three children, John Mathieson b 26 Feb 1826 William Mathieson b abt 1828 Mary Mathieson b abt 1831 The life of Mary Mathieson is documented later. The stories of her siblings are still being investigated. The father William Mathieson appears to have died between approx 1831-33 as Marion Irvine subsequently married Alexander Bruce on 31 Oct 1834. He was 23, a shoemaker from Ireland. Marion was 31. They had a child Marion Bruce on 30 April 1835 in Kilmarnock. Marion was 'born but not registered' according to her marriage certificate. Once again the mother Marion finds herself in trouble with the church for fornication before marriage. Her husband Alexander Bruce asked for an additional offence with another woman, five years earlier, to be taken into account. Marion Irvine’s relationships are summarised in this diagram. The daughter, Marion Bruce (b 1835), married a James Muir in 1855, had ten children and died in Galston (14 Jul 1896) aged 61.
