George Steward and Mary had a child, also called George Steward, on 17 Jan 1819. The child was baptised on 19 Feb 1819 at Greenwich, St Alfege. The father was described as a pensioner living in the Poor House. There was a note on the baptism record stating that appears to show that the Poor House were paying for the baptism. George died in 1823 when his son George was four years old. I have been unable to find any records of what happened to George’s wife Mary. George Steward (1819 - 1889) The first record of George Steward is in the 1841 Census where he was living in Essex St, Bethnal Green with, presumably, his wife Elizabeth. He was a shoemaker.
